Health and Safety

We kindly ask that all players maintain good hygiene practices and stay home if they’re feeling unwell. Your health is our top priority, and we're dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone in our community.

Concussion Protocol

It’s crucial for both parents and players to familiarize themselves with concussion information and the steps for addressing, treating, and managing them. We strongly recommend reviewing the guidelines provided by the CDC Heads Up: Concussion in Youth Sports Program. If a player experiences or reports any of the following signs or symptoms after a bump, blow, or jolt to the head or body, it may indicate a concussion:

OBSERVED CONDITIONS OF THE PLAYER:

  • Appears dazed or stunned;

  • is confused about assignment or position;

  • forgets an instruction;

  • is unsure of game, score, opponent;

  • moves clumsily;

  • answers questions slowly;

  • loses consciousness, even if briefly;

  • shows mood, behavior, or personality changes;

  • cannot recall events prior to hit or fall;

  • cannot recall events after a hit or fall.

PLAYER REPORTS THE FOLLOWING:

  • headache or pressure in the head;

  • nausea or vomiting;

  • balance problems or dizziness;

  • double or blurry vision;

  • sensitivity to light;

  • sensitivity to noise;

  • feeling sluggish, hazy, foggy or groggy;

  • concentration or memory problems;

  • confusion;

  • just not “feeling right” or “feeling down”.

If, as a result of a bump, blow or jolt to the head or body of a player, the player loses consciousness, 911 should be called immediately. Under any of the circumstances above, and if the player did not lose consciousness, the player should be seen by appropriate medical professionals. Players may not return to practice unless and until they have been evaluated, treated, if necessary, and cleared by the medical professionals to resume participation.

Return to Play Policy

If a player sustains an illness or injury during practice or an event that requires medical attention, they must not return to play under any circumstances until their medical provider has given full clearance. If a player is cleared to play but with specific restrictions or limitations, the player or their parents must email us at ascentlacrosseclub@gmail.com with the details before participating in any practice or event. Any player who shows up intending to play, without prior notification of restrictions or limitations, will be assumed to be in good physical condition and ready for full participation.
